ALLIED SPECIAL FORCES INSIGNIA 1939-1948·112 113 THE LUSHAI BRIGADE Chapter V This force was formed in March, 1944, to protect India from the Japanese if they decided to invade via the Lushai Hills. The Japanese had originally started their attack through Imphal and it was felt that, when they realized there were easier routes into India, they would change direction through these hills which were poorly defended.
